January 17th marked the first session of Congress for the 2012 year. With the presidential elections in the fall and a declining economy, people from all different backgrounds came together to protest lawmakers and corporations who are responsible for the current economic depression of the country. People around the world have woken up to the realities of the strong ties between government and big money and how they have taken advantage of society as a whole, destroyed our planet, and general disregard for human well fare. The Occupy movement has helped foster an alternative political dialogue that isn’t controlled by the mainstream media which is used as a tool by the government and corporations.
